What computer system does Master Patch Guide run on?
MPG was developed on Microsoft XP and will run on computers that can run Microsoft 98 and subsequent systems, with Vista being the exception. We are working on a Vista version. Master Patch Guide is also compatible with Office 2007.
On what program was Master Patch Guide developed?
MPG was developed using Microsoft Access 2002 with an Access 2000 file format. It is intended to provide each user with the maximum flexibility to use in their computing environment. For those without Microsoft Access, the program is licensed to include a modified version of Microsoft Access called Microsoft Runtime which allows the user to use the program but not modify it.
Is there documentation with the program?
Yes. MPG provides detailed installation instructions as well as explanations on using the program. It also provides several appendices listing and describing the 31 data fields, and the primary and secondary patch code abbreviations.
Can I add or substitute patches in my collection?
A really great feature of MPG is that you can not only substitute patches for those in your collection but you can add them to the image folder and edit or make a new data record form. MPG is dynamic, unlike a static book!
How can I find the insignia or data for units that have been redesignated?
Another feature of MPG is that each units SSI is shown in the format (cut or merrowed edge, color, desert, woodland or ACU) for the period of the unit’s designation and a cross reference (X Reference) is provided to identify the other applicable designations.
